BASIC INFORMATION

For a while, WP Engine has been around and is one of the oldest companies offering managed to host for WordPress. They have plans for every budget and are equipped to host websites for companies and businesses.WordPress is the backbone of millions of websites, so it is not surprising that many web hosting services focus solely on hosting one of the world’s most popular WP Engine content management systems. WP Engine is a high-quality host with outstanding uptime, WordPress-specific security, daily backups, detection of real-time threats, flexibility in the cloud platform, and other excellent features. Overall, the enterprise-class managed plans for WordPress.

WORDPRESS HOSTING

With an informative customer service team, reliable uptime, and cloud platform flexibility, WP Engine offers a powerful form of WordPress hosting. If you’re serious about building a website powered by WordPress, then WP Engine is a good starting point. Just remember that for a domain name and email accounts, and the base plan slacks 24/7 phone support, you need to turn to a third-party business.

One WordPress installation, 25,000 monthly visitors, 50 GB of monthly data transfers, and a small 10 GB of storage are supported by the most basic plan, Startup (starting at $35 per month). Growth (starting at $115 per month), a tier that offers five installations of WordPress, 100,000 visitors, 200 GB of monthly data transfers, and 20 GB of storage, is moving up the ladder. Building on Growth is Scale, which has 15 WordPress installations, 400,000 visits, 400GB of monthly data transfers, and 30GB of storage, starting at $290 per month. A rival managed WordPress host, Pressable boasts plans with bigger specs, but also bigger prices.

All plans come with many outstanding features, including a content delivery network (CDN) for faster page load times, staging environments so that site changes can be tested in a non-public environment and WP Engine’s own LargeFS data transfer and storage software. Here’s another important feature: Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud Platform can be selected as the backbone of your site, enabling scalability without the downtime and tight security. You are not given this option by Pressable.

PROS AND CONS

Velocity

For any type of company and especially for eCommerce websites, having a rapid loading site is a must. The faster your site loads, the better visitors’ chances of making a purchase instead of going to the site of your competitor. On top of that, in search engines, fast loading websites rank better, which means you will benefit from organic search instead of relying exclusively on paid ad traffic.

When it comes to speed, WP Engine did well in the hosting test this year. Their average response time to the server is 0.7 seconds. The average page loading time was around 0.6 seconds. However, the results are still within normal ranges, so you can expect your website to load pretty quickly. Their servers show some inconsistency.

Uptime

You won’t need to worry about WP Engine downtime issues. WP Engine had an uptime of 100% during the test, which is one of the best results you can expect from a hosting company.

Support

Live chat and phone support are offered by WP Engine. On top of that, with dozens of articles on managing and setting up your site, they have a thorough knowledge base. To help you grow your business, you will also find plenty of resources.

SHOULD YOU USE THEM?

If you are very serious about creating your own website, we would highly recommend using their hosting. But they are quite expensive, if you want to start slow, start with NameHero (4.30$ per month), or SiteGround.
